When the twins Iris and Astrid, aged 8, see the apples falling from the trees in the garden, they think it is a waste to leave the fruit lying there. So they decide to collect it and set up a small table with a scale in front of the Bundesgartenschau grounds in Berlin-Britz, where they offer apples for sale. An early childhood education in recycling.

Already in their early teens, the twins come up with the slogan “too good to throw away” and distribute handwritten flyers in the neighborhood offering their collection services.

The response is so positive that the storage space available in their parents’ house and garden soon becomes insufficient, and they rent a garage as their first storage facility. Their passion leads to success: in 2002, the twins jointly found their company, Twins Company, and specialize in complete property clearances. Soon after, they lease the premises “Am Stichkanal” in Berlin-Zehlendorf, which is still a branch location today.

From 2007 onwards, Twins Company begins to take on even larger projects. The first commercial clearance of a hotel is carried out. Soon, pickups from major companies such as Karstadt follow. In 2010, one of the twins leaves the company – and from then on, it is continued alone by Astrid Eilers.

The company grows and needs more storage space. In 2015, a hall at the Goerzwerk site is rented, which is used as storage and sales space. The number of employees grows steadily, and the increasingly extensive logistics of picking up furniture from hotels and offices is ensured through professional cooperation with various freight forwarders.
